One Mountain. One Mission. One Incredible Achievement.

As Membership Officer for RTTV, I want to give a huge shout-out and congratulations to Bro Peter Smith, who recently took on the challenge of climbing Ben Nevis – the highest mountain in the UK – all in support of Leukaemia UK.

Now, raising money for charity is a fantastic thing in itself, but what Peter achieved goes far beyond simply collecting donations. It took commitment, preparation, determination, and more than a little grit to tackle a challenge of this scale.

Anyone who knows Peter will know he's not someone who seeks the spotlight. He's modest, quietly gets on with things, and lets his actions do the talking. Well, this time his actions spoke volumes.

Peter set himself a fundraising target of £500. A brilliant goal. But thanks to the generosity of supporters and Peter's own dedication, he didn't just hit the target – he smashed it.

By the time the dust settled, Peter had raised an incredible £1,328 including Gift Aid, reaching an amazing 217% of his original target.

That's not just a number on a fundraising page. It's real money going towards helping people affected by leukaemia, supporting research, treatment, and the ongoing work of an important charity.

Throughout the climb, Peter shared photos from the mountain, giving us all a glimpse of the challenge he was taking on. From the breathtaking views to the steep and unforgiving terrain, the pictures tell the story of a journey that was anything but easy.

And that's what makes this achievement so inspiring.

In a world where it's often easier to talk about making a difference than actually getting out there and doing it, Peter chose action. He set a goal, put in the work, faced the challenge head-on, and delivered an outstanding result.

There is a lesson in that for all of us. Whether it's charity fundraising, personal goals, learning a new skill, or supporting our communities, great things happen when determination meets purpose.

We're incredibly proud to have members like Peter within RTTV. His efforts have raised valuable funds, shone a spotlight on a worthy cause, and reminded us all what can be achieved with enough dedication and heart.

Peter, congratulations once again. Climbing Ben Nevis is a remarkable accomplishment. Raising over £1,300 for charity while doing it makes it even more special.
