RTTV 9697 Lodge was proud to welcome the Provincial Grand Master of Oxfordshire, the Right Worshipful Professor Stephen Tucker, along with several Provincial Officers, to our May meeting for a very special presentation.
During the evening, Worshipful Master Dave MacDonald was presented with the Province of Oxfordshire’s Gold Award in recognition of RTTV Lodge donating £3,500 to the Oxfordshire 2029 Tercentenary Appeal. The Lodge is believed to be only one of a handful in Oxfordshire to have achieved this level of support for the appeal.
The Oxfordshire 2029 Appeal marks 300 years of Freemasonry in the county and is focused entirely on raising funds for local charities and community causes across Oxfordshire.
Freemasonry today is about far more than tradition and history — it is about friendship, personal growth, networking, and making a real difference in the communities around us. Charity remains a huge part of what we do, although much of it happens quietly behind the scenes. Every year, Freemasons across the UK donate more than £50 million to charitable causes, ranging from air ambulances and hospices to mental health initiatives, emergency services, youth groups, and families facing hardship.
One thing many people do not realise is that Freemasons do not fundraise from the general public. The money comes directly from members themselves, who choose to support causes that matter locally and nationally.
For younger men especially, Freemasonry offers something increasingly rare in modern life — genuine friendships, mentorship, social connection, and the opportunity to be part of something bigger than yourself, while still having fun along the way.
