Henley Freemasons Support Riverside Counselling Service with £500 Donation

Members of RTTV Lodge No. 9697 in Henley-on-Thames have donated £500 to Riverside Counselling Service, supporting the charity’s important work providing accessible mental health services to adults and young people across South Oxfordshire.
Charitable giving is at the heart of Freemasonry and an important part of life at RTTV Lodge. Each year, our Past Masters are given the opportunity to nominate a local charity or good cause that is particularly important to them, with a donation of £500 made by the Lodge.
For his chosen charity, Worshipful Brother Tony Wright, Past Master of Round Table Thames Valley Lodge, (RTTV9697) nominated Riverside Counselling Service in recognition of the vital support it provides within our local community, particularly to young people.
Tony said:
“I am very proud of the charitable work of our Lodge and our involvement with a wide range of community initiatives. Supporting others is a central value of Freemasonry and an important way in which we can give something back to the communities in which we live and work.“I proposed that our Lodge support Riverside Counselling Service because of the extremely valuable work it carries out, particularly with young people.”
Supporting Mental Health in Our Local Community
Riverside Counselling Service has been providing accessible and affordable therapeutic support to adults and young people aged 12 and over across South Oxfordshire since 1989.
The charity provides face-to-face counselling from community hubs in Henley and Wallingford, alongside online counselling services. It also runs a therapeutic group in Didcot and provides a brief support service for residents of Berinsfield.
At the heart of Riverside’s work is a commitment to ensuring that financial circumstances do not prevent someone from receiving the mental health support they need.
Sophie Wellings, CEO of Riverside Counselling Service, said:
“We are immensely grateful for this donation from Round Table Thames Valley Lodge. Riverside has a Hardship Fund that helps us ensure that no one is excluded from accessing our services on the basis of cost.“We operate with a sliding scale of fees and people pay what they can afford. We can only continue to make this offer through contributions such as the one provided by RTTV Freemasons.“This funding will go towards our Hardship Fund and will help to remove the barriers to mental health support for local people.”

RTTV Lodge is proud to be part of the Henley community. Alongside the friendships and traditions of Freemasonry, supporting charitable causes and becoming actively involved in our local community remain central to who we are as a Lodge.
The £500 donation to Riverside Counselling Service is one of a number of charitable donations being made by our Past Masters, each supporting a cause they have personally chosen.
